The us army is quickly moving towards a network-based, integrated systems environment. Chuck pizzutelli of fort monmouth's team c4isr emphasises how working closely with commercial contractors and identifying the information needs of soldiers on the front line, and the command chain that guides them, can overcome the problem of disparate legacy systems. The goal for the US Military is the same as that of many forces around the world: the development of responsive, agile and easily deployable forces that are dominant at every point of the spectrum of operations. Key to perfecting such a model of force projection is the exploitation of advanced technology.
