摘要

Training and simulation are becoming more critical as the complexity of battlefield systems increases and forces need to respond rapidly in a range of different environments. Roland Luethi of RUAG suggests to Defence Systems International that getting the best out of future training programs could depend on closer ties between training developers and their customers. Technological advances are changing the face of training and simulation. Live training and virtual simulation complement each other more than ever before, improving the efficiency, speed and quality of training. In both types of training, advanced technology is allowing more sophisticated programs to create a more realistic training battlefield. One of the main foci in live training is military operations in urban terrain (MOUT), which recreates specific battlefield environments on which larger forces, rather than just a small group of officers, can train. The aim here is to bring in more elements to provide a more complete picture and allow different units to train with each other.
