Too often, the shelter is overlooked as a critical component of the mobile electronic system design solution, resulting in design compromises in the latter stages of the project. Involvement of a packaging expert early in the system design process ensures a better product and reduces overall programme risk, something about which we all need to be concerned. How many times has Gichner heard its customers say: 'We used pricing for a "standard shelter" in our bid in order to keep the costs down'? The answer is: all too often. The problem is, standard shelters are not always an adequate packaging solution for a particular electronic system.
