A medium-term upgrade programme in continuous, consistent coordination between the Bundeswehr and industry will ensure that the Puma Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle is the Bundeswehr's most modern active armoured vehicle - and that it will remain so for the foreseeable future. As a result, the Puma-till the planned end of service of the Leopard 2 battle tank in the mid-2030s - will always be able to fight alongside the latter. Today the Puma already includes generic, electronic vehicle architecture according to NATO standards (NGVA) along with the resulting standardised interfaces. These features already ensure that the Puma will also be a reliable partner for the Leopard 2's successor system for many years to come, and that it can be networked with that successor system into a coherent combat system of the German Army.
