The past ten years have witnessed the publication of a number of catalogs of the rare and historical holdings of medical libraries. The profession of medicine is slowly rediscovering its heritage and the literature of its past, and as new emphasis is being placed on the study and teaching of medicine from an historical perspective as an independent discipline it is becoming commonplace for medical libraries to issue catalogs of collections. To the recent catalogs of the historical holdings of the Wellcome Historical Medical Library in London, the Duke University Medical Center, the St. Louis Medical Library, the National Library of Medicine, the Alabama University Medical Center, and Reading University, to mention a few, have recently been added the items noted here.
