Information that is digitized has be-come the norm in the twenty-firstcentury. Libraries acquire more andmore information in a digital format,and they continue to convert existingholdings to digital as well. Copyrightcompliance is one of the biggestchallenges rising out of digitization.This issue is a moving target because ofrapidly changing technology and vary-ing interpretations of new and existinglaws. Often there is no precedent onwhich to base answers to copyrightquestions, questions that have neverbefore even been asked. Therefore, it isvital that today's librarian be aware ofpotential problems involved in copy-right compliance and the law
