摘要

In this issue of CJEM, there is an updated version of theInstructions to Authors. Included with the update is theintroduction of a new submission category: the BriefEducational Report. In a July 2010, editorial, there wasa challenge to the Canadian emergency medicine (EM)community to share its education innovations.1 Thechallenge was to increase not only education research—the discovery of answers to education-based questionsusing the scientific method—but also education scholarship. The latter involves the dissemination (for peerreview) of a line of inquiry, new perspective, newapplication, or innovation that builds on currentevidence, theoretical frameworks, or best practices ineducation. Scholarship is a key step in preventing theendless duplication of education resources and programs between centres, unaware of what their peershave accomplished or rejected. The wheel has beeninvented; we should stop trying to reinvent it!
