In this paper, a new kind of covering axiom, fuzz y -closedness, stronger than fuzzy s-closedness due to Sinha and Malakar (1994) is introduced in fuzzy topological spaces (Chang, 1968) in terms of fuzzy semi- - -open sets and fuzz y semi- - -closures. Several characterizations via fuzzy prefilterbases and fuzzy nets (Pu and Liu, 1980) along with various properties of such concept are obtained.
