Gelbart and Piatetskii-Shapiro constructedvarious integralrepresentations of Rankin--Sel-berg type for groups $G imesGL_{n}$,where $G$is of split rank $n$. Here we show that their methodcan equally well be appliedto the product $U_{3} imes GL_{2}$, where $U_{3}$denotes the quasisplitunitary group in three variables. As an application, we describe whichcuspidal automorphic representations of $U_{3}$ occurin the Siegel inducedresidual spectrum of the quasisplit $U_{4}$.
