Any book that is ‘essential reading for LIS students taking information organization courses, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, information professionals wishing to specialise in the metadata field, and existing metadata specialists who wish to update their knowledge’ has high expectations. In 8 chapters it manages to address the key points of what is metadata, why is it needed and what metadata structures we use now and could use in the future.
