An alternative title: All you wanted to know about RDA and MARC21, but were too afraid to ask… This weighty tome is comprehensive; it’s also a very, very good reference guide. It covers all aspects of RDA and how RDA fits in with MARC21, making it an ideal book for any cataloguer, from the solo librarian to a member of a busy cataloguing team, from the novice to the experienced cataloguer. Personally, I would use this book for dipping into for clarification of RDA rules in a practical setting. Maxwell’s Handbook is concerned with RDA in MARC21 (as the title implies), and following ISBD structures. This is a practical handbook, with lots of examples, and makes the point that most cataloguers will be following this structure for years to come.
