摘要

Objective: To investigate the relationship between the study period (integral or partial) and health issues related to sleep, eating behavior, weight status and physical activity in children. Materials and Methods: It is an exploratory cross-sectional study in which 61 children aged 6 to 10 years old from a private school in Florianópolis-SC participated. We investigated sleep variables through the Children’s Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ), feeding behavior and physical activity practice through the Typical Day of Physical Activity and Feeding Questionnaire (DAFA) and weight status. Results: Full-time children had a higher median in the CSHQ score, indicating more problems with sleep (p=0.014). In addition, in the factor analysis of CSHQ, the most important factor in the group of full-time children was formed by sub-scales “sleep duration” and “parasomnias”. In the partial period, the most important factor was composed of “nocturnal awakenings” and “parasomnias”. Despite this, full-time children practiced more physical activity (p=0.036). There were no differences in food intake and weight status between the periods (p0.05). Conclusion: Full-time children presented higher frequency of problems during sleep and greater physical activity practice than children in the partial period. Thus, the data support the hypothesis that the study period may influence the health of children. However, the influence of this factor was differentiated according to the variable investigated indicating the need for evaluations, interventions and specific follow-up for this population.
