NodularmassesandgranulomasoftheesophagusareamongthemostfrequentlesionscausedbySpirocercalupi,anematodeparasiteofdogs,andneoplastictransformationofthesegranulomastoosteosarcomaorfibrosarcomahasbeendescribed.Inthisstudy,wedevelopedaxenograftmurinemodelofS.lupi-associatedsarcoma.Samplesofesophagealfibrosarcomaandosteosarcomaswereexcisedfromthreedogsdiagnosedwithspirocercosis.Thesesarcomaswereinoculatedintothreegroupsof6-week-oldNOD/SCIDmicetocreatethreetumorlinesofS.lupi-associatedsarcomas.Miceinallgroupsdevelopedtumorsafterinoculation,andthecelllinescouldbefurtherpropagatedassecond-generationxenografts.WesuccessfullyestablishedxenograftmurinemodelsofthreedifferentlinesofS.lupi-associatedsarcomathatofferreadilyavailablesourcesofthesetumorsforfurtherexperiments.Thisresourcewillfacilitatestudiesonthemalignanttransformationofthegranulomas,establishmentofefficientchemotherapyandradiotherapyregimens,andidentificationofdiagnosticmolecularmarkers.
