Mongoliangerbils(Merionesunguiculatus)serveasanvaluablemodelanimalforseveralinfectiousdiseasesofmedicalandveterinaryimportance.ReagentsavailableforcharacterizationoftheimmuneresponseofMongoliangerbilsarestrictlylimited.Wedescribethreenovelmurinemonoclonalantibodies(mAbs)todendriticcellsofMongoliangerbils.TheseincludeHUSM-M.g.11ofIgG2bisotype,HUSM-M.g.20ofIgG2aisotype,andHUSM-M.g.30ofIgG1isotype.AllofthesemAbshadanidenticalprofileofimmunohistochemicalreactionswithvarioustissuestakenfromimmune-naiveMongoliangerbils,andwereintensivelyexpressedondendriticcells,includingepidermalLangerhanscells,B-cellfollicles,andthethymicreticulum.PositivereactionsoftheepidermisandintestinalmucosawiththesemAbswereinducedbycutaneousorintestinalinfectionswithparasites.Competitiveenzymelinkedimmunosorbentassayandimmunoblotanalysis(westernblotting)indicatedthatallofthesemAbsrecognizeanidenticalpeptideepitopeonamoleculewithapproximatemolecularmassof29kDa.ThesedatasuggestthatthemAbsrecognizemajorhistocompatibilitycomplexclass-IImoleculesofgerbils.UseofdescribedmAbswouldfacilitatecharacterizationofimmuneresponsesaswellasinvestigationsonhostresponsestoinfectionsofmedicalandveterinaryimportance,usingthegerbilmodel.
