Overa5-yperiod,3chimpanzeesatourinstitutionexperiencedcerebrovascularaccidents(strokes).Inlightoftheincreasingpopulationofagedcaptivechimpanzeesandlackofliteraturedocumentingtheprevalenceandeffectivenessofvarioustreatmentsforstrokeinchimpanzees,weperformedaretrospectivereviewofthemedicalrecordsandnecropsyreportsfromourinstitution.AsurveywassenttootherfacilitieshousingchimpanzeesthatparticipateintheChimpanzeeSpeciesSurvivalPlantoinquireabouttheirexperiencewithdiagnosingandtreatingstroke.Thiscasereportdescribesthepresentation,clinicalsigns,anddiagnosisofstrokein3recentcasesandinhistoricalcasesatourinstitution.Predisposingfactors,diagnosis,andtreatmentoptionsofcerebralvascularaccidentinthecaptivechimpanzeepopulationarediscussedalso.
