Research in Papua New Guinea developed a way of transferring to smallholder oil palm growers the fertilizer recom-mendations that have been developed for nearby plantation fields using large fertilizer trials. The procedures used were developed into a conceptual framework, which is transferable to other regions and also updateable as new information becomes available
