摘要

The population of extremely old (aged 85 years or older) people is increasing more rapidly in Japan than in any other country. This segment makes up almost 3.4% of the entire Japanese population. They are generally quite frail and have multiple illnesses and functional impairment. To provide a higher quality of acute care, it is essential to understand the present situation of the ambulance transfer of extremely old patients. Although a few studies have examined the ambulance transfer of elderly patients (aged 65 years or older) in other countries,1-3.
