In the context of current energy production, where the goal is to obtain clean energy and arenewable source that meets society's demand and it does not harm the environment, biogasappears as an alternative that meets these requirements. Together, research and the publicationof articles contribute to the development of science and knowledge. This study investigatedpapers published in 122 journals classified in the A1, A2, B1, B2 and B3 strata in theWebQualis system of Capes (Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de NívelSuperior), linked to the Administration, Accounting and Tourism evaluation area. Theeconomic and financial viability of biogas production from swine farming. The search wascarried out through 17 related key terms in English and Portuguese, resulting in 12 papersselected in 8 national journals, published from 2009 to 2015, mostly in the southern region ofBrazil by 34 different authors, who used 12 methods of different research. All the studiesanalyzed in this study point to the positive economic and financial viability of biogasproduction, as well as to the reduction of environmental impacts and best practices related tosustainability in relation to biogas production from swine farming.
