摘要

Since BC is economically viable and a self-sustaining strategy, African farmers can rely on it for pest control and avoid dependence on costly pesticides. However, biological controls are not always satisfactory because the natural enemies used are either insufficient or are prevented from developing their full potential. In such cases’ an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategy, a situation where several intervention have to be combined, have to be employed. There are several obstacles that have prevented the prospect of BC being a profitable business enterprise in the past. Classical biological control in the past involved mostly government and inter-governmental agencies and collaborating institutions. This is seen as key in coordinating foreign exploration and quarantine, and to facilitate transportation problems.. This process of BC is economically expensive. The involvement of farmers and extension services was generally marginal.:
