Iqsec3 KO (Iqsec3-cKO) mice, and performed a battery of behavioral analyses to reveal a specific anti-depressive- like behaviors, as analyzed by both forced swim test and tail suspension test without no abnormalities in the other behav- ioral analyses, including open-field test. These data suggest that IQSEC3 deficiency might mimic the manic facet of human patients with bipolar disorder, exhibiting increased goal-directed behav- ior specifically. To elucidate the in-depth pathological mechanism underlying manic-like behavior of Iqsec3-cKO mice, neuronal activ- ity patterns were monitored by c-FOS immunoreactivity as a surrogate for active neurons, and analyzed to determine the key brain areas that exhibit differential neuronal activities by compar- ative experiments using wild-type mice. Currently, chemogenetic and pharmacological approaches are being employed to further dissect relevant neural circuits that are abnormally altered in Iqsec3-cKO mice.
