An empirical analysis of mobile Internet acceptance in Chile

摘要

Introduction. This paper examines the applicability of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, version 2, to mobile Internet acceptance in Chile. This theory is an extension of the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model to a contrasting consumer context of technologically developing countries, such as Chile.Method. An interview survey using a schedule based on constructs of individual acceptance was used to measure acceptance of mobile Internet by a quota sample of 501 users. Analysis. The partial least squares technique was used to analyse the research model.Results. The model explains the behavioural intention and the use behaviour in the adoption of mobile Internet in Chile. Specifically, 29% of the variable ‘increase in mobile Internet usage’ is explained by the variables habit, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, performance expectancy, price value and social influence.Conclusions. The extended unified theory model is applicable to Chile.
