Electrochemical sensor for As(III) was prepared by using carbon nanotubes/amino acid modifiedplatinum electrode using cyclic voltammetry. Experimental conditions such as pH, supportingelectrolyte and scan rate were optimized. It was observed that the modified electrode has significantsuperior analytical performance in determination of As(III) compared to the unmodified electrode. Thedetermination of As(III) by using modified electrode was reproducible with R.S.D of 7.3%.Determination of As(III) was observed to be free of metal ion interference at pH 4.0 acetate buffer.The electrocatalytic redox peak current of As(III) showed a linear response towards different-2concentration of As(III) and linear calibration curves were obtained in the range of 0.110 to-2 -850.510 M. The sensitivity response is 100 A/M with limit of detection 3.6310 M. Thisdeveloped method was applied for determination of As(III) in some real samples, such as industrialwaste water from wood industry and electroplating industry and a good agreement was obtainedbetween the proposed method and ICP-OES based on the analysis of the waste water samples.
