A hybrid nanocomposite formed by interaction of a octa (3-chloropropyl)octasilsesquioxane modifiedwith imidazol , and its subsequent reaction with cadmium and hexacyanoferrate (II) (CdHSSI) wasincorporated into a graphite paste electrode and the electrochemical studies were conducted with cyclicvoltammetry. The cyclic voltammogram of the modified graphite paste electrode with CdHSSI (GPE-- CdHSSI), showed one redox couple with formal potential E =0.14V (vs Ag/AgCl, NaNO3, 1.0 mol L 1 -1 2+ 3+ ; v = 20 mV s ), attributed to the Fe (CN)6/ Fe (CN)6 process. The redox couple presents anelectrocatalytic response for determination of ascorbic acid. The modified electrode gives a linear-4 -1 -4 -1 range from 2.010 mol L to 9.010 mol L (r=0.998) for the determination of ascorbic acid with-4 -1detection limit of 1.2110 mol L with a relative standard deviation of 5% (n=3) and amperometric-1 sensitivity of 6.217 mA/ mol L for ascorbic acid.
