Nanostructured composites increase their sensitivity and performance when employed as material incorrosive environments. In the present study, poly(2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propane- sulfonic acid - co-N-isopropylacrylamide) hydrogels, were synthesized by free- radical crosslinking solutionpolymerization with different ratios of monomers to form colloidal hydrogels shell around poly(vinylalcohol) core through epichlorohydrine, in order to obtain well-define PVA(AMPS-NIPAm) core/shellnanogels with diameter nearly 30nm, which characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) . The inhibitioneffect of PVA-NIPAm/AMPS nanogel on the corrosion of steel in 1.0 M HCl solution was studied bypotentiodynamic polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).Potentiodynamic polarization studies indicate that the new PVA-NIPAm/AMPS nanogel is a mixedinhibitor. Impedance studies show that a protective film is formed on the steel surface in the presenceof the inhibitor and exhibit its protective nature even at low concentration. The results of polarizationmeasurements are in good agreement with those obtained from EIS data for acting PVA- NIPAm/AMPS nanogel as an efficient corrosion inhibitor in 1 M HCl.
