The article offers the modern academic library model, understood as a system that links its physical and electronic space.?It offers the dynamics of the development of electronic space, based on the use of modern technologies, and the directions of these transformations along with the need for the existence and development of the library as a physical space.?We show that both spaces are intertwined, complement each other, interact and transform into one integrated, open system, dynamically responding to changes in its environment, including those taking place in the education system and scientific research. Against this background we outline the transformation in one of Polish academic libraries - in the University Library of Wroc?aw.
