Organophosphateinsecticides(OP)haveextensivelybeenusedtocontrolmosquitoes,suchasthevectoremAedesaegypti/em.Unfortunately,OPresistancehashamperedcontrolprogramsworldwide.WeusedQuantitativeTraitLocus(QTL)mappingtoevaluatetemephosresistanceintwoFsub1/subintercrosspopulationsderivedfromcrossesbetweenaresistantemAe.aegypti/emstrain(RecR)andtwosusceptiblestrains(MoyoDandRed).AsinglemajoreffectQTLwasidentifiedonchromosome2ofbothsegregatingpopulations,namedemrtt1/em(emresistancetotemephos/em1).Bioinformaticsanalysesidentifiedaclusterofcarboxylesterasegenes(emCCE/em)withintheemrtt1/eminterval.qRT-PCRdemonstratedthatdifferentemCCE/emswereup-regulatedinFsub2/subresistantindividualsfrombothcrosses.However,noneexceededthe2-foldexpression.PrimarymechanismsfortemephosresistancemayvarybetweenemAe.aegypti/empopulations,yetalsoappeartosupportpreviousfindingssuggestingthatmultiplelinkedesterasegenesmaycontributetotemephosresistanceintheRecRstrainaswellasotherpopulations./p/div
