Weconductedatranslationalgenomicpilotstudytoevaluatetheimpactofgenomicinformationrelatedtocolorectalcancer(CRC)riskonpsychosocial,behavioralandcommunicationoutcomes.In47primarycareparticipants,96%optedfortestingofthreesinglenucleotidepolymorphisms(SNPs)relatedtoCRCrisk.Participantsaveraged2.5of6possibleSNPriskalleles(10%lifetimerisk).At3-months,participantsdidnotreportsignificantincreasesincancerworry/distress;overhalfreportedphysicalactivityanddietarychanges.SNPriskscoreswereunrelatedtobehaviorchangeat3-months.Manyparticipants(64%)sharedtheirSNPresults,including28%whosharedresultswithaphysician.Inthispilot,genomicriskeducation,includingdiscussionofotherriskfactors,appearedtoimpactpatients'healthbehaviors,regardlessofthelevelofSNPrisk.FutureworkcancompareriskeducationwithandwithoutSNPresultstoevaluateifSNPinformationaddsvaluetoexistingapproaches./p/div
