Thewesternflowerthrips(WFT),emFrankliniellaoccidentalis/em,aworld-wideinvasiveinsect,causesagriculturaldamagebydirectlyfeedingandbyindirectlyvectoringTospoviruses,suchasemTomatospottedwiltvirus/em(TSWV).WecharacterizedthetranscriptomeofWFTandanalyzedglobalgeneexpressionofWFTresponsetoTSWVinfectionusingIlluminasequencingplatform.Wecompiled59,932unigenes,andidentified36,339unigenesbysimilarityanalysisagainstpublicdatabases,mostofwhichwereannotatedusinggeneontology(GO)andKyotoEncyclopediaofGenesandGenomes(KEGG)analysis.Withintheseannotatedtranscripts,wecollected278sequencesrelatedtoinsecticideresistance.GOandKEGGanalysisofdifferentexpressiongenesbetweenTSWV-infectedandnon-infectedWFTpopulationrevealedthatTSWVcanregulatecellularprocessandimmuneresponse,whichmightleadtolowvirustitersinthripscellsandnodetrimentaleffectsonemF.occidentalis/em.Thisdata-setnotonlyenrichesgenomicresourceforWFT,butalsobenefitsresearchintoitsmoleculargeneticsandfunctionalgenomics./p/div
