Sister Mary Joseph's Nodule is a term describing the metastasis of malignant neoplasm to the umbilical area. It is often the first and only symptom of neoplastic disease. In the majority of cases the primary cause of its occurrence is a neoplasm of ovary, colon, stomach, pancreas or uterus. The presence of the nodule is evidence of advanced disease and it is an unfavourable prognostic sign, usually evidence of a non-operative neoplastic tumor. In this study we present the case of patient who underwent surgery for gastric carcinoma, in whom the nodule within umbilical area was found during physical examination.
