Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of diet nursing combined with nutritional management system intervention on the clinical outcome of elderly patients with esophageal cancer. Methods Sixty patients underwent resection of esophageal carcinoma were selected as the research object. According to the admission day, they were divided into observation group and control group, 30 cases in each group. Nutritional risk screening and body mass index (BMI) detection were performed on admission and 6 months after discharge in both groups. Serum proteins were monitored on admission, one day before operation, eight days after operation and six months after operation in both groups. The control group was given total parenteral nutrition and routine diet nursing in perioperative period, while the observation group was given eternal nutrition combined with parenteral nutrition of conventional dietary and nursing system nutrition management intervention. Nutritional status and body mass index were compared. Results There were no significant differences in nutritional risk screening and BMI between the two groups on admission (P0.05), but there were significant differences in indexes mentioned above at 6 months after discharge between two groups (P0.01). There were no significant differences in monitoring of serum proteins on admission and one day before operation between two groups (P0.05), but there were significant differences at 8 days after operation and 6 months after discharge between two groups (P0.05). Conclusion Application of dietary nursing combined with nutritional system management in elderly patients with esophageal cancer in the perioperative period can significantly improve the nutritional status and prognosis, reduce complications, improve the quality of life and extend survival time.
