Abstract:Objective To evaluate the acupoint application with magnetic moxibustion for patients with peripherally inserted central catheter(PICC). Methods 〓Totally 100 patients with PICC were assigned to the treatment group(n=51)and the control group(n=49). Patients of both two groups received standard nursing procedure of PICC maintenance, and those in the treatment group were given acupoint application with magnetic moxibustion. The times of dressing change and cost of PICC maintenance were assessed and compared between two groups. Results The times of dressing change was(1.18±0.46)in the treatment group and was(3.38±0.72)in the control group, with a significant difference(P0.01). The cost of PICC maintenance in the treatment group was lower than that of controls(P0.01). Conclusion 〓Application of acupoint application with magnetic moxibustion may reduce times of dressing change and cost of PICC maintenance. It is potentially effective to reduce the risk of PICC-induced phlebitis.
