Abstract:Objective To analyze the potential safety hazards in nursing care of newborns at maternity ward and to provide the preventive measures. Methods To retrospectively collected and classify nursing adverse events, and to provide preventive measures based on safety hazards. Results Of 42 cases collected, 18 cases were palirrhea or asphyxia caused by feeding before bath, followed by 12 cases of falling down from bed and 7 cases of no accompany by parents. Conclusion Many potential hazards may affect the safety of newborns at maternity ward. Preventive measures, for examples, improved skills and safety awareness of nurses, enhanced management system and communication, individual health education, are key points to ensure the safety of newborns.
