Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of umbilieal compress therapy with ginger and pinellia on preventing and controlling nausea and vomit caused by chemotherapy in colorectal cancer patients. Methods Totally 100 patients undergoing postoperative chemotherapy for colorectal cancer were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 50 cases in each group. Patients in the control group used hydrochloric acid tropisetron before chemotherapy. In the experimental group, additional umbilieal compress therapy with ginger and pinellia was applied. Effect on preventing nausea and vomiting was observed and compared between two groups. Results The proportion of patients with grade 0 and I nausea was lower in the observation group than that of controls(98.0% vs. 76.0%, P0.05). the proportion of patients with grade 0 and I vomiting was lower in the observation group than that of controls(98.0% vs. 74.0%, P0.05). Conclusion The umbilieal compress therapy with ginger and pinellia is effective to on prevent nausea and vomit caused by chemotherapy in patients with colorectal cancer.
