Abstract:Objective To investigate the research competence of nurses form community-based medical institution and to analyze potential influential factors. Methods Totally 346 nurses form community-based medical institutions were surveyed across the Shanghai Qingpu District(ten community health service centers in total, 93.51% of the total number of community nurses). Results The overall score and each dimension of research competence assessment were at a lower level in nurses form community-based medical institution. There was a significant difference in assessment results between nurses with different age, education level and work experience, respectively(P0.05). There was no significant difference in assessment score between nurses with different professional titles(P0.05). Nurses with experience of thesis writing and research training achieved higher score in overall score, writing and research knowledge assessment(P0.05), and those with habit of reading academic journal and attendance of academic conference achieved higher overall score of assessment(P0.05). Conclusion Given the relatively lower research competence of nurses form community-based medical institution, hospital administrators and the higher authorities should put more efforts to enhance the train and to promote the development of community-based care.
