Abstract:Objective To understand the status and influencing factors of core competence of psychiatric nurses with different working years in a certain psychiatric hospital in Suzhou, and to provide evidence-based information for the rational allocation of nursing human resources and the formulation of nurses' tiered training programs. Methods 〓In June 2017, 193 nurses from a psychiatric hospital in Suzhou were selected by convenience sampling method. The study subjects were divided into two groups: young nurses(1-3 working years)and experienced nurses(more than 4 working years), Using the competency inventory for registered nurse(CIRN)to investigate the status of its core competencies. Results 〓There were 56young nurses and 137 experienced nurses. The core competency of nurses was(2.50±0.78)points, which was at the middle level. The total average score of young nurses was(2.02±0.69)points, and they achieved a low level of educational counseling(1.63±0.75),critical thinking/ scientific research(1.81±0.93), leadership ability(1.93±0.85), clinical education(1.93±0.78).The total average score of experienced nurses was(2.70±0.73)points, and they achieved a medium-low level of professional development(2.49±0.78), critical thinking / scientific research(2.50±0.86). Univariate analysis of variance showed that there were significant differences in critical thinking / research, clinical nursing, leadership, interpersonal relationship, legal/ethical, professional development, educational counseling and total scorebetweenyoung nurses and experienced nurses(P0.05). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that he main influencing factors were education level and the job title(P0.05). Conclusion 〓The overall level of psychiatric nurses' core competencies was at a moderate level in this study. Nursing managers should strengthen the training of young nurses with low academic qualifications and low job title, especially in training of education counseling, critical thinking / research, clinical care and leadership. At the same time,moreeffort should be paid in the training of experienced nurses in professional development, critical thinking /scientific research, so as to improve the core ability of nursing team and ensure the reasonable allocation of human resources.
