Elisabeth Doucett took an unusual path to her current positionas director of the Curtis MemorialLibrary in Brunswick, Maine, and she is now experiencingher third career after spending six years in nonprofit fundraising and fifteen years in marketing and brand management in the consumer packaged goods industry. Indeed,Doucett’s résumé reads like a perfect marriage of corporateAmerica, academia, and public librarianship. She earned anundergraduate degree from Smith College in art historyand classical Greek, after which she began her first careeras fundraiser in the development departments at Harvardand Boston Universities. She went on to earn an MBA inmarketing from the J. L. Kellogg School of Managementat Northwestern University, launching her next professionas a specialist in consumer marketing. Doucett worked atKraft Foods, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Quaker Oats, then wenton to consult for multiple Fortune 500 companies.
