摘要

This study is aimed at clarifying the maintenance management of the heritage buildings and the issues face when preserving theheritage buildings in Penang Island. The paper will discuss about the importance of heritage building maintenance, the method andprocess to preserve heritage building, and the issues face in heritage building maintenance works. For this research, literaturereview and interview were used to achieve the set objectives. The framework will provide a holistic guidance and understanding ofthe maintenance management practices to be adopted in the conservation of heritage buildings in Penang Island. More so, theidentification of issues in heritage building maintenance needs to be referred and solved. The outcome of this research will beuseful to heritage organizations or agencies in preparing guidelines for maintenance management of heritage buildings.
