Alofi,FutunaandUvea(alsocalledWallis),3islandssituatednorthofFijiandTongaarchipelagos,arerarelyvisitedbyornithologists.Wepresentnewdataontheavifaunaobtainedduringsurveysin2014andwecomparethemwithprevioussurveysmadeinthe1920s,1980sand1990s.Werecordedtheextirpationof1species(friendlyground-dove,Alopecoenasstairi)probablyrelatedtopredation,andthedeclineofanother(lessershrikebill,Clytorhynchusvitiensis)linkedtodeforestation.Althoughtherecentarrivaloftheblackrat(Rattusrattus)inFutunaisapotentialthreatfortheblue-crownedlorikeet(Viniaustralis),nodeclineisapparentatthepresenttime.Ingeneral,mostlandbirdsseemedcommondespitelossofnativehabitatsandhuntingpressure;similarly,theseabirdpopulationsandnumberofspeciesappearedstable,asituationprobablylinkedwiththegeneraldecreaseofharvesting.Finally,2breedingspecies(spotlesscrake,Zaporniatabuensis,andtropicalshearwater,Puffinusbailloni)and3vagrants(white-facedheron,Egrettanovaehollandiae,maskedlapwing,Vanellusmiles,andpectoralsandpiper,Calidrismelanotos)areaddedtothelist.
