Sir: With regards to the wonderful article on Starbeck shed in the December 2019 edition of Steam Days, I am happy to clear up the 'frustration' over the photograph on page 27 featuring 'Jubilee' No 45630 Swaziland. On May 23, 1958 a pigeon special passed Harrogate, heading for Ripon, hauled by British Railways Standard Caprotti class '5' 4-6-0 No 73132 of Shrewsbury shed. Hard on its heels was another pigeon special, also heading for Ripon, with 'Jubilee' No 45630 Swaziland of Crewe North piloted by 'B16' No 61427. The two 'foreigners', in the company of another 'Jubilee', No 45685 Barfleur of 82E Yeovil, spent the Whitsun period on Starbeck shed, and it would be No 45630 and the BR class '5' being featured in the photograph, thus giving Starbeck a distinct Western Region appearance. Incidentally, whilst at Starbeck No 45685 was put to work, being seen on banking duties on the Wetherby branch.
