Wedeterminedthecharacteristicvariabilitytimescales($${Deltat}_mathrm{p}$$)of410brightandlongGRBs,bylocatingthepeaksoftheirPowerDensitySpectra,definedandcalculatedinthetimedomain.Wefoundthattheaveragedvariabilitytimescaledecreaseswiththepeakflux.Thisisconsistentwiththetime-dilationeffectexpectedforthecosmologicaloriginofGRBs.Wealsofoundthattheoccurrencedistributionofthecharacteristicvariabilitytimescaleshowsbimodality,whichmightbeinterpretedasthatthelongGRBsampleiscomposedoftwosub-classeswithdifferentvariabilitytimescales.However,wefoundnodifferenceforsomeothercharacteristicsofthesetwosub-classes.
