WereportonX-rayspectralandtimingresultsofanewblackholecandidate(BHC),MAXIJ1659$$-$$152,withanorbitalperiodof2.41hr(shortestamongBHCs)ina2010outburstfrom65RossiX-rayTimingExplorer(RXTE)observationsand8simultaneousSwiftandRXTEobservations.AccordingtothedefinitionsofthespectralstatesinRemillardandMcClintock(2006,ARAamp;A,44,49),mostoftheobservationshavebeenclassifiedintotheintermediatestate.AlloftheX-raybroadbandspectracanbemodeledbyamulti-colordiskplusapower-lawwithanexponentialcutofforamulti-colordiskplusaComptonizationcomponent.Duringtheinitialphaseoftheoutburst,ahigh-energycutoffwasvisibleat30a€“40keV.Theinnermostradiusofthediskgraduallydecreasedbyafactorofmorethan3fromtheonsetoftheoutburst,andreachedaconstantvalueof35$$d_{10}$$cos$$i$$$$^{-1/2}$$km,where$$d_{10}$$isthedistanceinunitsof10kpcand$$i$$istheinclination.Thetype-Cquasi-periodicoscillation(QPO)frequencyvariedfrom1.6Hzto7.3Hzinassociationwithachangeoftheinnermostradius,whiletheinnermostradiusremainedconstantduringthetype-BQPOdetectionsat1.6a€“4.1Hz.Hence,wesuggestthattheoriginofthetype-BQPOsisdifferentfromthatoftype-CQPOs,thelatterofwhichwouldoriginatefromthedisktruncationradius.Assumingtheconstantinnermostradiusinthelatterphaseoftheoutburstastheinnermoststablecircularorbit,theblackholemassinMAXIJ1659$$-$$152isestimatedtobe3.6a€“8.0$$M_{odot}$$foradistanceof5.3a€“8.6kpcandaninclinationangleof60$$^{circ}$$a€“75$$^{circ}$$.
