Time-resolvedCCDphotometricobservationsofadwarfnovaEGCncwerecarriedoutduringanoutburstwhichoccurredaftera19-yearquiescentinterval,since1977November.Ourobservationsbetween1996December2and14revealedthisoutbursttobeadefinitesuperoutburst,eventuallyenablingadefiniteclassificationofthisobjectasanSUUMa-typedwarfnova.Thisoutburstwascharacterizedbyitslongdurationofmorethantwoweeksandalargeamplitudeofatleast6.7mag.Theobjectshowedtwodistincttypesofsuperhumps:double-peakedmodulationsattributabletoa€?earlysuperhumpsa€?withaperiodof0.0582?±0.00025dintheearlierstageofthecurrentoutburst,followedbyfullygrowntypicalsuperhumpswithaperiodof0.0603?±0.00006d.Weregardtheperiodof0.0582dasbeingtheorbitalperiodoftheobjectwitha3.7%superhumpexcessratio.ThesecharacteristicssuggestastrongresemblancetoanextremerareclassofdwarfnovaeincludingWZSge,HVVir,andALComwithsomeothersimilaritiesbetweenEGCncandtheWZSge-typedwarfnovae.Theexistenceofdouble-peakeda€?earlysuperhumpsa€?intheearlystageofsuperoutburstsmaybeanewdefiningcriterionfortheWZSge-typedwarfnovae.
