SensitiveobservationswiththeAtacamaLargeMillimeter/submillimeterArray(ALMA)allowastronomerstoobservethedetaileddistributionsofmoleculeswithrelativelyweakintensityinnearbygalaxies.Inparticular,wereportdistributionsofseveralmoleculartransitionsincludingshockanddustrelatedspecies(13COa€‰J??=??1a€“0,C18Oa€‰J??=??1a€“0,13CNa€‰N??=??1a€“0,CSa€‰J??=??2a€“1,SOa€‰JN??=??32a€“21,HNCOa€‰JKa,Kc??=??50,5a€“40,4,HC3Na€‰J??=??11a€“10,12a€“11,CH3OHa€‰JK??=??2Ka€“1K,andCH3CNa€‰JK??=??6Ka€“5K)inthenearbySeyfert2galaxyNGC1068observedwiththeALMAearlyscienceprogram.Thecentrala??a€‰1a€2(a??a€‰4.3??kpc)ofthisgalaxywasobservedinthe100-GHzregioncoveringa??a€‰96a€“100??GHzanda??a€‰108a€“111??GHzwithanangularresolutionofa??a€‰4a€2a€2?—2a€2a€2(290a€‰pc?—140a€‰pc)tostudytheeffectsofanactivegalacticnucleusanditssurroundingstarburstringonmolecularabundances.Here,wepresentimagesandreportaclassificationofmoleculardistributionsintothreemaincategories:(1)??moleculesconcentratedinthecircumnucleardisk(CND)(SOa€‰JN??=??32a€“21,HC3Na€‰J??=??11a€“10,12a€“11,andCH3CNa€‰JK??=??6Ka€“5K),(2)??moleculesdistributedbothintheCNDandthestarburstring(CSa€‰J??=??2a€“1andCH3OHa€‰JK??=??2Ka€“1K),and(3)??moleculesdistributedmainlyinthestarburstring(13COa€‰J??=??1a€“0andC18Oa€‰J??=??1a€“0).SincemostofthemoleculessuchasHC3NobservedintheCNDareeasilydissociatedbyUVphotonsandX-rays,ourresultsindicatethatthesemoleculesmustbeeffectivelyshielded.Inthestarburstring,therelativeintensityofmethanolateachclumpyregionisnotconsistentwiththoseof13CO,C18O,orCS.ThisdifferenceisprobablycausedbytheuniqueformationanddestructionmechanismsofCH3OH.
