>This paper describes testing of a typical practice in Mexico for connecting precast concrete members for moment-resisting frames using welded reinforcement. Cyclic lateral load testing of typical beam-columnassemblies were conducted. The connections were also analyzed using a nonlinear analytical model. The results indicate that the welded reinforcement connection detail may result in brittle failure under cyclic loading. The authors recommend that emulative connections be used instead.
