Wepresentnewopticalimages($$B,V$$,and$$mathrm{H}alpha$$)ofthearchetypicalstarburst/superwindgalaxyM82obtainedwiththe8.2a€‰mSubaruTelescopetorevealnewdetailedstructuresofthesuperwind-drivennebulaandthehigh-latitudedarklanes.Theemission-linenebulaisdecomposedinto(1)aridge-dominatedcomponentcomprisingnumerousfilament/loopsub-structureswhoseoverallmorphologyappearsasapairofnarrowcylinders,and(2)adiffusecomponentextendedovermuchwideropeninganglefromthenucleus.Wesuggestthatthesetwocomponentshavedifferentorigins.Theridge-dominatedcomponentappearsasapairofcylindersratherthanapairofcones.SincethismorphologicalpropertyissimilartothatofhotplasmaprobedbysoftX-ray,thiscomponentseemstosurroundthehotplasma.Ontheotherhand,thediffusecomponentmayarisefromdustgrainswhichscatterstellarlightfromthegalaxy.Sinceinnerregionofthiscomponentisseenovertheprominenta€?Xa€?-shapeddarklanesstreamingoutfromthenuclearregionandtheycanbereproducedasaconicaldistributionofdustgrains,thereseemstobeadustycoldoutflowaswellasthehotoneprobedbysoftX-rayandshock-excitedopticalemissionlines.Ifthisisthecase,thepresenceofsuchhigh-latitudedustgrainsimpliesthatneutralgaseousmatterisalsoblownoutduringthecourseofthesuperwindactivity.
