Inageometricallythincloudlayerunderphotonsurfingoveraninfinitediskwithuniformbrightness,awavyfluctuationautomaticallyamplifiesitself.Thisisanewtypeofinstabilityforaninhomogeneousstratusmovingatarelativisticspeedinintenseradiationfields.Underradiativefluxanddragforces,theequilibriumspeedofawavetopcanreachultra-relativisticspeed,althoughtheequilibriumspeedofawavebaseremainsinthemildlyrelativisticregime($$sim0.45,c$$)duetoradiationdrag.Thatis,theequilibriumspeedofthewavystratuswithwavelength$$lambda$$becomes$$0.99,c$$(Lorentzfactor$$gammasim10$$)atheight$$zsim10,lambda$$.Asaresult,theradiation-draglimitintheastrophysicaljetscanbebroken.Theterminalspeed,whichdependsonthestrengthofradiationfieldsaswellasthewavelength,isalsoobtained.
