Self-absorbedprofileshasbeenseentowardsthecorecontainingIRAS18507+0121,aprobablehigh-massprotostar,inthemillimeterwavelinesofHCO+,H13CO+,CS,andC34S.Especially,theJ=1a?’0lineofH13CO+,isfoundtobestrongerthanthatofHCO+.Wehavemodeledthiscoreinordertodeterminethephysicalconditionsinit.Togeneratesyntheticspectrafromthemodelcore,weusedamulti-level,non-LTEradiativetransfercodethatemploysalarge-velocity-gradientapproximationinordertoestimatethelevelpopulations.Ithasbeendemonstratedthatthelineprofilescanbeexplainedbyacollapsinghotcorehiddenbehindacold(a??4K)anddense(3?—104cma?’3)intervening,butcomoving,screenorenvelope.Themodelparametersadjustedtoreproducetheobservedprofilesare(a)thetemperature,density,andvelocityfieldsinthemodelcoreand(b)thetemperature,density,andlinewidthinthescreen.Comparingtheobservedprofileswiththemodelspectraatboththeon-centerandoneoff-centerpositions,wehavebeenabletoreliablydeterminethephysicalconditionsinthecore.
