WepresentCO(3-2)emissionobservationstowardthe3a€2$$ imes$$3a€2(or20kpc$$ imes$$20kpcatadistanceof23Mpc)regionofthesouthernbarredspiralgalaxyNGC986usingtheAtacamaSubmillimeterTelescopeExperiment(ASTE).Thiseffortisapartofouron-goingextragalacticCO(3-2)imagingproject,ADIoS(ASTEDensegasImagingofSpiralgalaxies).OurCO(3-2)imagerevealedthepresenceofalarge(themajoraxisis14kpcintotallength)gaseousbarfilledwithadensemolecularmediumalongthedarklanesobservedinopticalimages.Thisisthelargesta€?dense-gasrichbara€?knowntodate.Thedensegasbar,discoveredinNGC986,couldbeahugereservoirofpossiblea€?fuela€?forfuturestarburstsinthecentralregion,andwesuggestthatstarformationinthecentralregionofNGC986couldstillbeinagrowingphase.WefoundagoodspatialcoincidencebetweentheoveralldistributionsofdensemoleculargastracedbyCO(3-2)andmassivestarformationdepictedbyH$$alpha$$.TheglobalCO(3-2)luminosity,$$La€?_{ mCO(3-2)}$$,ofNGC986wasdeterminedtobe(5.4$$pm$$1.1)$$ imes$$10$$^8$$Kkms$$^{-1}$$pc$$^2$$.TheCO(3-2)$$/$$CO(1-0)integratedintensityratiowasfoundtobe0.60$$pm$$0.13ataspatialresolutionof44$$a€?$$or5kpc,andtheCO(3-2)$$/$$CO(2-1)ratiowas0.67$$pm$$0.14atabeamsizeof$$sim$$25$$a€?$$or$$sim$$2.8kpc.TheselineratiossuggestmoderateexcitationconditionsofCOlines($$n_{ mH_2}$$$$sim$$10$$^{3-4}$$cm$$^{-3}$$)inafewkiloparsecregionofcentralNGC986.
