Fiveon-planeregionswithin$$pm$$0.8DofthegalacticcenterwereobservedwiththeHardX-rayDetector(HXD)andtheX-rayImagingSpectrometer(XIS)aboardSuzaku.Fromallregions,significanthardX-rayemissionwasdetectedwithHXD-PINupto40keV,inadditiontotheextendedplasmaemissionwhichisdominantintheXISband.ThehardX-raysignalsareinferredtocomeprimarilyfromaspatiallyextendedsource,ratherthanfromasmallnumberofbrightdiscreteobjects.ContributionstotheHXDdatafromcataloguedX-raysources,typicallybrighterthan1mCrab,wereestimatedandremovedusinginformationfromSuzakuandothersatellites.Evenafterthisremoval,thehardX-raysignalsremainedsignificant,exhibitingatypical12-40keVsurfacebrightnessof4$$ imes$$10$$^{-10}$$ergcm$$^{-2}$$s$$^{-1}$$deg$$^{-2}$$andpower-law-likespectrawithaphotonindexof1.8.CombinedfittingstotheXISandHXD-PINspectraconfirmthataseparatehardtailcomponentissuperposedontothehotthermalemission,confirmingapreviousreportbasedontheXISdata.Overthe5-40keVband,thehardtailisspectrallyapproximatedbyapowerlawofphotonindex$$sim$$2,butbetterbythosewithsomewhatconvexshapes.PossibleoriginsoftheextendedhardX-rayemissionarediscussed.
