Suzaku Observation of the RCW86 Northeastern Shell

ThispaperreportsonSuzakuresultsconcerningthenortheastshellofRCW86.Withbothspatialandspectralanalyses,weseparatedtheX-raysintothreedistinctcomponents:low($$kT_{ me}sim$$0.3keV)andhigh($$kT_{ me}sim$$1.8keV)temperatureplasmasandanon-thermalcomponent,anddiscoveredthattheirspatialdistributionsaredifferentfromeachother.Thelow-temperatureplasmaisdominatedattheeastrim,whereasthenon-thermalemissionisbrightestatthenortheastrim,whichisspatiallyconnectedfromtheeast.Thehigh-temperatureplasma,foundtocontainthe$$sim$$6.42keVline(K$$alpha$$oflow-ionizediron),isenhancedattheinwardregionwithrespecttotheeastrim,andhasnospatialcorrelationwiththenon-thermalX-rays(thenortheast).ThisresultsuggeststhattheFe-K$$alpha$$lineoriginatesfromFe-richejectaheatedbyreverseshock.Apossiblescenariotoexplainthesemorphologiesandspectraisthatafast-movingblastwaveinathincavitycollidedwithadenseinterstellarmediumattheeastregionveryrecently.Asaresult,thereverseshockinthisinteriordecelerated,andarrivedattheFe-richregionoftheejectaandheatedit.Inthenortheastrim,ontheotherhand,theblastwaveisstillmovingfast,andisacceleratingelectronscausingthemtoemitstrongsynchrotronX-rays.
